ebXML and UBL -- Filling the Holes in Web Services to Solve High-Value Business Collaboration Problems (TT)
3/11/2003
Companies taking the lead deploying web services are already reaping benefits such as elimination of manual intervention in business processes. This reduces both error rates and costs. Despite these benefits, web services really only solve lower and middle infrastructure layer integration problems through the use of agreed-to standards. The web services architecture does not offer a solution to the application meta-data standardization, business collaboration protocols, schemas, and data definitions. These higher-value areas are the focus of ebXML and UBL.
