The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter: A Defense Mandate for Collaboration & Transformation (R)
6/26/2003
The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), in the eyes of the government sponsors and the defense aerospace community, is a transformational system and program: transforming the aircraft system itself and how the system is integrated into the battle space; transforming how an aircraft system is designed, built, delivered, and supported; transforming the supporting infrastructure that provides data and information to realize the system, and to achieve total program management; transforming the business approach and practices for acquiring and maintaining the aircraft system.
The subject of this paper is the underlying transformation challenges and direction of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company and the JSF Program – specifically on the topic of distributed product data and data management (DPD/M).
